Is a root canal painful?

Since patients are given an anaesthetic, a root canal is not more painful than a normal dental procedure, such as a filling or having a wisdom tooth removed. However, a root canal is generally a bit sore or numb after the procedure, and can even cause mild discomfort for a few days.
How long does it take to return to normal activities after root canal treatment?

Although you will most likely be numb for 2-4 hours following the procedure, most patients are able to return to school or work directly following a root canal. However, patients are advised against eating until the numbness has completely worn off.
How many visits are required for root canal treatment?

Root canal treatment can be done in one visit however, it is usually carried out by your dentist over 2 appointments.
