FAQs
A dentist will take a look inside your mouth and carry out an examination of your teeth, gums and mouth. They will then carry out any treatments they feel are necessary, such as fluoride varnish, additional tests or x-rays. They will ask about your lifestyle and provide advice on diet, smoking, alcohol & teeth cleaning to help improve your oral health.
Is an emergency appointment the same as a check-up? No, during an emergency appointment, only the issue for which you attend, will be addressed.
Does everybody receive a fluoride varnish? Adults do not usually require a fluoride varnish however, if your dentist feels you need it, they will carry out the procedure, and patients can receive a prescription for high fluoride toothpaste.
Does everybody have an X-ray during their check-up appointment? In general, not everyone will have an X-ray during their check-up appointment however, if one is required, your dentist will inform you in advance.
