FAQs
Are Skin Boosters the same as Fillers? Whilst they both contain hyaluronic acid, fillers are typically used to replace lost volume, whereas skin boosters stimulate your own body to produce more collagen by working on the biochemical level of skin layers to improve overall skin quality. Furthermore, they have a thinner consistency in comparison to dermal fillers.
How long is the procedure? It depends on the skin booster however, it usually takes 15-30 minutes.
How long do the results last? It depends on the skin booster however, we recommend annual treatments after a full-course of treatment.
How long do skin boosters take to settle? You might experience some small, raised lumps or bumps at the injection sites following your skin booster treatment however, these will disperse within 1-2 hours. Any slight bruising, redness or tenderness at the injection points is quite normal and will resolve itself within a few days.
Do skin boosters have side effects? Some people experience minor bruising after the injection of skin boosters, especially around the corners of the eyes where the skin is particularly thin. However, bruising usually disappears within 1-2 weeks.
What age is best for skin boosters? It depends on the type of skin booster used as some require the patient to be over 30 years of age, whilst others can be administered to those in their mid-20s.
What are contraindications of skin boosters? (When should skin boosters NOT be used?) Skin boosters should not be used: - During pregnancy or when breastfeeding - If there is a history of significant auto-immune disease - If the area to be treated is infected or inflamed - If there is a history of keloid scarring - If there is active acne - If long-lasting fillers, such as Pella Filler, have been used
How often are skin boosters recommended? It depends on the type of skin booster to be used however, we recommend annual treatments after a full-course of treatment.
Skin boosters stimulate collagen production, which create a slight volume, increasing skin turgor and improving skin structure & elasticity. They provide an antioxidant function, speed up wound healing, lessen inflammation and effectively decrease dark circles & fine lines around the eyes.
